Hares on the March 2016

Have you seen any Hares on the March?

Lily O’Brien’s is delighted to announce its sponsorship of Hares on the March in aid of the Jack and Jill Foundation.

Hares on the March 2016From January 22nd until 4th March, Dublin will become home to the biggest “Hare trail” in the history of the state.  Approximately 110 fibre glass hares will be showcased around the capital. Each hare, measuring approximately 3ft in height, has been decorated by well-known artisans from across Irish culture.  Among the most famous artist names who have created hares in support of this project are Graham Knuttel, John Shinnors, Donald Teskey, Pauline Bewick, John Doherty and Martin Gale, with a full list of artists published today on www.jackandjill.ie.

These majestic hares will go on display on Friday 22nd January across Dublin and will be located in prominent landmark locations across the capital including top retail outlets and areas of cultural significance.  Details of exact locations will be revealed on the Hares on the March website www.haresonthemarch.ie. The Hares on the March project brings together art, culture, charity and fun in one of the most innovative projects realised within Ireland, and builds on the success of previous fundraising activities for Jack and Jill including the Big Egg Hunt, Cows on Parade and the Pig Parade in 2015.

For families looking to get involved in the hare trail, brochures will be available in any of the various locations where the hares are on display, on the Jack and Jill website (www.jackandjill.ie) or available to download using the links below.  There are also a variety of competition prizes to be won as part of this activity including a year’s supply of Lily O’Brien’s chocolates and 3 VIP tours of the chocolate factory!

Senator Mary Ann O’Brien, founder of Lily O’Brien’s (title sponsor for the Hares on the March), and co-founder of Jack & Jill explains:  “The Jack & Jill Foundation is a charity very close to our hearts, with my son Jack’s home nursing care plan providing the blueprint for the home nursing care model that has supported over 1,900 families since 1997.  Jonathan and his team have always had to be really creative in their fundraising efforts to keep the charity well-funded and the Hares on the March is a masterpiece in quality art, family fun and clever fundraising.  It is a great match for our ethos of quality and creativity at Lily O’Brien’s and a lovely fundraiser to showcase our brand.  I know many families will really enjoy the ‘Hare Trail’ and art buyers will be attracted by the beauty and drama of these beautiful creatures.”

Hares will be auctioned in aid of the Jack and Jill Foundation on the online auction at www.jackandjill.ie or through the live auction on 15th March when the hares go under the hammer of De Veres in the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.
